LTOWMySimsCharacterPackMod
Add 50 characters from the MySims franchise to the pardner customization menu!Details
Howdy, Pardner
By the by, ya might be gettin' company:
I dunno if I'll be around to give 'em a welcome party, so should you happen to read this, know that a ragtag group of traveling settlers callin' themselves "My Sims" might one day stroll into Wormtown.
Should you wonder what they look like, they sent a picture of themselves to me. Weird blocky fellas, lemme tell ya... The poor saps also seem unaware of what's happenin' in Wormtown, as they still called it Darwin in their letter. So, should you meet them, give 'em a hand and help 'em leave Wormtown alive. Though, I suppose I'm not too worried, since from the sound of their letter, they are awfully good at movin' in and outta' towns.
Now hurry, ya got a train to catch...
- Gilbert
The Mod
Introduction:
Ever heard of that Wii and DS spin-off of The Sims called MySims? This mod brings back a heaping helping dose of nostalgia for anyone who has, by adding a ton of characters from the games as selectable bodies for pardners!
To play as a MySims character, simply head on over to the Customize menu, customize your Pardner, and go to the Body menu to choose a Sim. There's a total of 50 characters to choose from, representing each Wii game from the franchise. So, whether you've played just the original, played all the games, or even if you're only familiar with the DS games, there's bound to be someone you know among the list!
And, with additional configurable Thunderstore settings, you can choose to synchronize your Sims with other players, so you can all hear and see each other running around Wormtown for one big, nostalgic, life-threatening MySims reunion!
Creation:
- First things first, this mod was made for two reasons:
- I was surprised/disappointed by the lack of options in the pardner's body customization, despite the rest of the customization menu being really really free and extensive. So, I used this mod as a college project to evidence that I could add further value to the game by expanding that part of the menu, by testing if I could replace SkinnedMeshRenderer's meshes at runtime, and apply the correct VertexGroups and weight paint to a model not at all made for this game originally. And, as if by miracle, these character models work phenomenally well together, so this was a massive success!
- And ALSO I love MySims
- And this was another project I thought I could quickly make hahaha yes hilarious it went wayyyyy into overtime.
- However, this is because I wanted to put serious effort into the, I guess you could call it, "quality of life" of this mod:
- Allowing people to synchronize what they're seeing, as per usual in a multiplayer game
- Making the default settings of all configs in such a way so they allow first-time users to have a smooth experience (which is why the multiplayer synchronizing is off by default, so people aren't booted out of lobbies due to syncing issues)
- And having all the major and minor bugs I could find in testing fixed.
- Thanks to all this, I am incredibly proud of this mod, what it offers for the gameplay experience, how smooth everything seems to work even in multiplayer, and all the other little details I packed in here and there. So, I really sincerely hope you enjoy!
- However, this is because I wanted to put serious effort into the, I guess you could call it, "quality of life" of this mod:
- also if you recognize the first sentence of the introduction you're a real one
Credits:
- The MySims franchise is made by Maxis and Electronic Arts, with the game's wonderful characters having been made by their visual artists, and the character's wonderful voices having been recorded by each respective voice actor. Thank you to them for... my childhood, to be honest lol
- And thank you for checking out or even downloading this mod!
