CriticalBlock
Defensive counterpart to critical hits with some vanilla item reworksDetails
Critical block aims to add a defensive counterpart to lense maker's glasses' (and related items') critical hit mechanic. It does this by modifying vanilla defensive items to utilize the new 'critical block' mechanic.
A critical block reduces incoming damage by half. Players have a 1% chance to critically block innately, same as critical hits. Blocks use the same visual/audio effect as tougher times' damage negation.
Current item changes:
Tougher times: -old effect removed. -now provides 10%+10% block chance, identical to how lense makers' works.
Safer spaces: -no change, but it's worth mentioning anyway. Now effectively acts as a lost seers lense counterpart.
Stun grenade: -old effect removed. -+5% block chance. -Blocking hits stuns the attacker and anything in 2+2 meters of it.
Oddly shaped opal: -no longer provides armor. -guaranteed block while buff is active instead. -blocked hits receive an additional 10% damage reduction per stack.
Repulsion armor plate: -no longer provides flat damage reduction. -now provides 5 armor and 5% block chance; think of it like a defensive mocha.
Unstable tesla coil: -no longer passively shocks enemies. -buff now provides guaranteed blocks while active. -blocked hits now shock enemies, identically to how the passive shock worked.
Titanic knurl: -+5% block chance per stack. -since it's a general defensive stat up, I went ahead and added the new defensive stat to it.
Jade elephant: -buff no longer provides armor. -buff now provides guaranteed blocks. -while held, blocked hits receive an addition 50% damage reduction.
KNOWN ISSUES: -Tesla coil sometimes doesn't shock enemies. -not all lang files are modified. -stun grenade, tesla coil, and tougher times don't have item displays. -no green block items lmao
TODO: -fix shit lol -Warped echo blocks affected hits instead of applying 20% damage reduction (maybe) -compat with augmentum for a block chance essence -a small collection of new items to explore effects that won't fit on any vanilla items
