Haldor Expansion

Valheim mod for BepInEx + Jotunn that expands Haldor's trading and adds unique risk-reward items with custom combat mechanics.

Overview

Haldor Expansion turns Haldor into a more useful late-game trader.

The mod adds new goods to Haldor's shop, lets players sell trophies and selected rare materials, and introduces unique combat items designed for harder Valheim playthroughs.

It is built for multiplayer / dedicated server use and includes English and Russian localization.

Unique item mechanics

Bone Crushers

Cestus weapon for aggressive close combat.

Main idea:

builds up a custom adrenaline-like charge while taking damage;
active ability becomes available when the charge is full;
activated with the middle mouse button;
creates a brief protective barrier;
releases a shockwave around the player;
gives bonus maximum health and very high attack speed;
reduces armor while equipped.

Cuirass of Silent Reckoning

Armor for surviving dangerous burst damage.

Main idea:

when a large hit would deal dangerous damage, part of that damage is delayed;
the delayed damage returns over time in an increased amount;
helps prevent sudden burst deaths, but does not remove the danger;
the player still has to survive the delayed punishment.

Cloak of the Wounded Beast

Risky regeneration cloak.

Main idea:

increases incoming damage;
restores health every second;
regeneration becomes stronger at lower health;
fire, poison, and spirit damage suppress the regeneration for a short time;
healing is weaker when used together with the Cuirass of Silent Reckoning.

Cloak of Burned Resolve

Stamina-based defensive cloak.

Main idea:

redirects part of incoming damage into stamina loss;
the stamina cost is harsher than the redirected damage amount;
if stamina is not enough, the missing part hits health harder.

Corrupted Brisingamen

Accessory for increased carry weight.

Main idea:

increases maximum carry weight;
uses the trinket slot.

Crossbow of the Shadow Hunt

Heavy crossbow for powerful opening shots.

Main idea:

high pierce damage;
strong opening/backstab potential;
heavy and slow to move with;
intended for deliberate, high-impact ranged combat.

Pit King's Cuirass

Aggressive item for cestus-focused gameplay.

Main idea:

increases maximum health;
supports the Bone Crushers playstyle;
works with Bone Crushers as part of the Steel Heart set bonus;
improves the cestus active ability by increasing barrier strength and shockwave damage.

The mod allows selling trophies and selected rare materials.

Rare materials:

SurtlingCore;
BlackCore;
MoltenCore.

Trophies:

Ocean trophies;
Swamp trophies;
Mountain trophies;
Plains trophies;
Mistlands trophies;
Ashlands trophies;
boss trophies also have sell values in the current release.

Recommended playstyle

The mod works best on higher difficulty, where the new items feel less like free power and more like risky survival tools.

For a more hardcore playthrough, it pairs well with:

Smoothbrain-CreatureLevelAndLootControl - stronger creatures;
warpalicious-Monster_Modifiers - additional creature modifiers;
ASharpPen-Custom_Raids - more dangerous and frequent raids.

These mods are not required dependencies.

Requirements

Required dependencies:

BepInEx 5;
Jotunn.

When installed through a mod manager, required dependencies should be handled by the package manifest.

Multiplayer / dedicated server

This mod changes gameplay and adds networked mechanics.

For dedicated servers, install the same version of the mod on:

the server;
every client/player.

Using different versions between server and clients is not recommended.

Manual installation

If installing manually, place:

HaldorExpansion.dll

into:

BepInEx/plugins/aveasura-HaldorExpansion/

The item icons are already embedded inside HaldorExpansion.dll.

Players do not need to copy PNG files separately.

Compatibility

The mod was tested in a multiplayer / dedicated server environment together with other gameplay mods, including:
