The Extra Assets Registration is not obsolete. It will not work with current versions of Talespire. It has been replaced by Custom Assets Library Plugin (CALP). However, somce content developers have made EAR a dependency for their pack meaning you can't use the pack unless you have EAR installed. This plugin poses a EAR for the purpose of satisfying the dependency but does absolutely nothing. If a pack requires EAR as a dependency, installing the pack will automatically download this fix since this is the latest version of EAR.
