A Path of Exile 2–inspired item crafting system for Valheim. Apply runes and omens to your equipment to add, reroll, and corrupt modifiers — bringing deep endgame itemization to the Viking world.
Runes and omens drop from any creature in the world. What can drop depends on the biome:
| Biome | Runes | Omens |
|---|---|---|
| Meadows | Becoming, Addition | — |
| Black Forest | Becoming, Addition, Konungr's | — |
| Swamp | Addition, Konungr's, Ascension, Jörmungandr's, Desecration | — |
| Mountain | Konungr's, Ascension, Transmutation, Jörmungandr's, Desecration | Elements, Protector, Order, Sinistral, Dextral |
| Plains | Ascension, Transmutation, Jörmungandr's, Oblivion, Desecration | Elements, Protector, Order, Sinistral, Dextral, Whittling, Abundance |
| Mistlands | Ascension, Jörmungandr's, Oblivion, Norn's, Desecration | All omens, including rare: Corruption, Perfection, Greater Annulment |
Basic runes are more common in early biomes (2–3% chance). Advanced runes and omens are rarer (0.1–0.5%). Drop rates can be adjusted in the config.
Any equippable gear: swords, axes, bows, maces, shields, helmets, chest armor, leg armor, capes, tools (pickaxes, axes), and utility items.
Items start as Normal (no modifiers) and progress through rarities:
Normal → Magic (1-2 mods) → Rare (3-6 mods) → Corrupted (sealed)
Items are automatically assigned a tier based on their base stats (damage, armor, block power). Higher tiers roll stronger affix values:
| Tier | Biome | Affix Range |
|---|---|---|
| T1 | Meadows | 0–25% of max |
| T2 | Black Forest | 15–40% |
| T3 | Swamp | 30–55% |
| T4 | Mountain | 45–70% |
| T5 | Plains | 60–85% |
| T6 | Mistlands/Ashlands | 80–100% |
Basic enchant: Right-click Rune of Becoming → right-click a Normal iron sword → the sword becomes Magic with 1 random modifier (e.g. "+7% damage, +5% stamina cost").
Targeted craft: Right-click Rune of Ascension → left-click Omen of Elements → right-click a Rare weapon → adds a guaranteed elemental damage modifier (fire/frost/lightning).
Corruption gamble: Right-click Rune of Desecration → right-click any item → unpredictable outcome: mythic enchantment, value shift, extra modifier, lost modifier, or nothing. The item is permanently corrupted.
| Rune | Effect |
|---|---|
| Rune of Becoming | Normal → Magic (1 modifier) |
| Rune of Addition | Add modifier to Magic (max 2) |
| Konungr's Rune | Magic → Rare (+1 modifier) |
| Rune of Ascension | Add modifier to Rare (max 6) |
| Rune of Transmutation | Normal → Rare (4 modifiers) |
| Jörmungandr's Rune | Replace 1 random modifier on Rare |
| Rune of Oblivion | Remove 1 random modifier |
| Norn's Rune | Re-roll all modifier values |
| Rune of Desecration | Corrupt item (irreversible) |
Omens modify the behavior of the next rune applied:
| Omen | Effect |
|---|---|
| Omen of Elements | Force elemental modifier |
| Omen of the Protector | Force defensive modifier |
| Omen of Order | Protect best modifier during Chaos |
| Omen of Sinistral Exaltation | Force prefix |
| Omen of Dextral Exaltation | Force suffix |
| Omen of Abundance | Exalted adds 2 modifiers |
| Omen of Corruption | Vaal always changes something |
| Omen of Whittling | Chaos removes weakest modifier |
| Omen of Perfection | Divine sets values to max |
| Omen of Greater Annulment | Annulment removes 2 modifiers |
